Saros' free Zenith update is out on PS5 today, October 19, adding a New Game+ mode with player-selected difficulty modifiers and a boss rush that ends with an eight-boss gauntlet. All owners also get new accessibility settings, including the option to slow combat down without reducing the number of bullets to dodge.

Housemarque details the additions in its Zenith launch announcement. The update was revealed during September 3's State of Play with a broad 2026 window. It expands the single-player PS5 action game, which follows enforcer Arjun Devraj through the hostile alien world of Carcosa.

Eclipse Layers makes a second run harder

Finishing Saros opens access to Eclipse Layers, its new take on New Game+. New nodes in the Armor Matrix at Passage unlock the next Layer, where players must select enough Carcosan Modifiers to meet a required threshold before starting.

That means taking on multiple difficulty-raising Trials, but the combination is yours to choose. Zenith adds 10 Trial Modifiers, bringing the selection to 25. One new option, Hostile Regeneration, lets larger enemies recover after weapon damage stuns them; a melee strike is needed to finish them off.

Arjun gains golden armour and a Crown during Eclipse Layers, with the Crown growing more elaborate as players take on more Trials and raise their Modifier Balance. It also affects what players can read: 12 new Visions contain murals and messages, with additional story text requiring higher Crown levels.

Overlord Rush puts bosses on the clock

Overlord Rush is accessed through the Primary Unit in Passage. Its Incursion and Ascension sets each feature three Overlords, while Totality strings all eight together in one continuous gauntlet.

The mode tracks scores on leaderboards against friends and other players worldwide. Global results can be filtered by Main Weapon, giving players a way to compare runs using their preferred weapon. That online competition requires an internet connection and an account for PlayStation.

Slower combat without fewer bullets

Zenith's Slow Game Speed setting keeps enemy attacks intact while giving players longer to read and respond to them. Players can adjust the slowdown and choose whether it activates automatically during combat or is toggled manually.

Auto-fire shoots when the player aims at a hostile, reducing the need to hold a button. It does not automate reloading, so a perfect reload still needs a timed button press. Motion Sensor Aiming is also new, joining the existing button-remapping options.

The update adds 10 Protection Modifiers for a more forgiving run, too. Corruption Melee Enhancement, for example, turns accumulated Corruption into extra melee damage when a strike connects, consuming the buildup that would otherwise eat away at maximum Integrity.
