Cyberpunk 2077's Update 2.5 is out, adding an in-game mod browser to consoles alongside dual-wielding and new Edgerunners 2 content. There is a catch for achievement hunters: playing a modded save on console disables achievements and trophies.

CD PROJEKT RED confirms the free update is available now on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 owners still have to wait, as do Mac App Store players. The studio's October 21 patch notes put both versions in the days following the October 22 launch, without an exact date.

Console mods arrive with a save-file warning

The mod.io integration lets players browse and install a selection of community-made mods directly from the game menu. CD PROJEKT RED plans to add more over time; this is a selected catalogue, not a promise that every existing PC mod will work on console.

The official patch notes list support across PC, Mac, PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, subject to the update's staggered release. Modded saves receive a dedicated icon in the Load Game menu, making the console achievement restriction easier to spot.

Console players also gain a field-of-view slider. Across the update, saves are grouped by playthrough and apartment and vehicle stashes get item filters.

There is no expansion requirement. The studio's Update 2.5 FAQ confirms that owning the base game is enough, with neither Phantom Liberty nor Ultimate Edition needed. Existing progress carries over, so returning players do not have to start again.

Dual-wielding and new quests give V more to do

The previously announced dual-wielding playstyle arrives through Double Trouble in the Cool perk tree, with four supporting perks. It applies specifically to Power-category pistols and revolvers. Five Glamdoc vendors also let V change the appearance of Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire and the Projectile Launch System, with shop-specific skin catalogues and customizable colors.

The Edgerunners 2 crossover quest, Clampdown, takes place before the anime. It unlocks after completing The Heist and two Wakako gigs, followed by a message from her. A five-piece gear set based on King is obtainable during the quest, while the new HKGN 102.0 FM station plays tracks from both Edgerunners series.

Another side quest sends V through a Night City mystery on a tour narrated by founder Richard Night. Its requirements are The Heist and Street Cred level 15. There are also 12 Minor Arcana tarot cards to find, with a quest that begins when players scan one and a reward for collecting the set.

Technical changes include DLSS 4.5 and MetalFX Frame Interpolation support, ray-tracing and PS5 Pro performance improvements and revised HDR rendering. FSR 3 upscaling has been removed; FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain available.
