Pokémon Unite will shut down on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC on Nintendo Switch and mobile. A new library feature will let players keep access to certain records and in-game content, but it will not preserve battles after service ends.

The Pokémon Company confirmed the closure in an end-of-service notice on October 27. The game launched on Switch on July 21, 2021, and its five-on-five team battles support cross-platform play between Switch and mobile. Both versions now have the same end date.

The library needs a download before shutdown

An update on November 12 will introduce the library alongside a special event. To use the library after the shutdown, players must complete its required data download before March 23 at 00:00 UTC. Missing that deadline means losing access to the feature afterward.

Even with the download, players will no longer be able to log in to the game or take part in battles once service ends. The library is limited to viewing certain records and in-game content. Its data generally cannot be transferred when changing devices, and support for the feature will also end with the service. Any problems need to be raised with Support before the closure.

That leaves no offline replacement for Unite's matches, in which teams collect Aeos energy and deposit it in opposing goal zones to score. The library preserves a way to look back at parts of the game, not to keep playing it.

Gem sales and membership renewals have stopped

Aeos gem sales stopped on October 27 at 05:00 UTC. Existing gems can still be spent until service ends. The paid currency normally provides another way to unlock rewards, alongside rewards earned through battles.

New UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals were suspended at the same time. Current members can continue using their benefits until their existing membership period expires; the announcement does not extend those benefits through to the shutdown.

The November 12 event will offer items including Unite licenses and Holowear previously released in the game. The Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament is still going ahead as announced, with qualifier tournaments beginning on December 5, 2026.
