Minecraft is now available on Nintendo Switch 2 with Vibrant Visuals, and owners of the digital Nintendo Switch version can claim the new Standard Edition free through Nintendo eShop. Physical-copy owners have a separate discounted Ultimate Collection offer.
Nintendo's launch announcement confirms that returning Switch players can carry their worlds over to Switch 2. The enhanced version adds directional lighting, volumetric fog and dynamic shadows, with Vibrant Visuals support extending to the included Super Mario Mash-Up Pack and compatible Minecraft Marketplace content.
Free digital upgrade and a physical-owner discount
The US Standard Edition listing prices the game at $29.99 for new buyers and gives existing digital Switch owners until January 31, 2027 to claim the free upgrade. Nintendo's earlier preorder announcement described that offer as available in most territories, without naming the exceptions.
The Ultimate Collection discount also covers physical Switch copies. To receive the invitation, launch Minecraft for Nintendo Switch on a Switch 2 between October 27, 2026 at 9 a.m. PT and January 31, 2027 at 9 a.m. PT. An in-game message will offer the digital Switch 2 Ultimate Collection at a reduced price. Nintendo does not specify the discount amount in its launch post.
What the three editions include
Standard Edition includes the game and Super Mario Mash-Up Pack, both with Vibrant Visuals support. Deluxe Collection adds Celebration Food, Plenty of Blocks and Rescue Dogs Mutts, plus Nether Portal Wings, Pig Pal Hat, Three Villagers Coat and 700 Minecoins.
Ultimate Collection includes those extras, adds Decocraft and Weapons and Tools, and brings the Minecoin total to 1,000. It also includes the Exploding Creeper Coat and Jockey Fan Hat.
