Guild Wars Afterlife will bring a changing dungeon and cross-profession skill drafting to the original Guild Wars on January 13, 2027. The paid DLC launches on PC, including Steam, plus iOS and Android, and requires Guild Wars Reforged to play.
ArenaNet announced Afterlife on November 3, describing it as the game's first new DLC in almost 20 years. Developed through the studio's partnership with 2weeks, it lets you take existing characters into Xotecha, an island within the Mists, but changes how you assemble their abilities.
Skills beyond your two professions
The Unformed is Afterlife's new repeatable dungeon. Each trip starts with a chosen loadout, then presents a different combination of maps, encounters and bosses. As you progress, you draft additional skills from choices that aren't restricted to your character's primary and secondary professions.
That opens up combinations outside the usual two-profession setup. Runs also unlock rewards that affect later attempts, alongside permanent rewards usable outside Xotecha. You can enter with friends or NPC henchmen.

The story follows the Order of the Moonless Night, which guides lost spirits through their regrets. An influx of souls and interference from a cult have overwhelmed the Order, leaving players to help before those spirits turn into Nightmares. The narrative unfolds over successive visits to the dungeon.
Price and the Reforged requirement
Afterlife's standard price is $29.99 or €29.99. ArenaNet is offering prepurchases for $23.99 or €23.99, with local and platform pricing potentially varying. Prepurchasing also includes the Vestments of the Order costume, available ahead of the DLC's launch.
The required base game, Guild Wars Reforged, released on December 3, 2025. Its Steam package includes the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns and has no monthly subscription fee. Afterlife is a separate purchase, not part of those included campaigns.
