The Elder Scrolls VI: Sentinel is still more than two years from release, according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier. His November 3 comment would put launch beyond early November 2028 if accurate, but it does not establish 2028 as a target year. Bethesda has not announced a release date or window.
Writing on Bluesky after the name reveal, Schreier said: “Sorry to say this game is still more than 2 years away!” He did not give a specific launch date.
That is a more concrete warning about the wait than Bethesda has offered publicly. In its November 3 statement, the studio said development continues and that “it’ll be some time before we’re ready to share more”. Neither statement announces a delay to a previously confirmed release window.
Today's Sentinel reveal supplied the sequel's name and Hammerfell setting, eight years after the original Elder Scrolls 6 teaser. Schreier also described that 2018 announcement as reassurance that Bethesda still had single-player games coming alongside Fallout 76.
The long gap since that first teaser is not a measure of how close the game is to completion. Bethesda was already playing early builds in March 2024, as Eurogamer reported at the time, but that update did not establish a launch schedule either. The new timing claim comes from Schreier, not a Bethesda release announcement.
