League Classic's current run ends on January 6, 2027, and Riot Games is preparing refunds for Classic-only content that will become unusable. Some players have a much shorter deadline to act: Riot's refund notice gives eligible cash buyers 30 days to contact Player Support if they want money returned to their original payment method.
In its League Classic developer update, Riot says most players have returned to other parts of League of Legends. It hopes to bring Classic back with changes, likely as an event mode, but has not announced a return date.
Classic launched on July 29 with patch 26.15, revisiting older League gameplay on Summoner's Rift. The launch patch notes described a starting roster of 60 champions using versions of their abilities from across the game's early history. That roster will still grow before the mode leaves.
Refunds depend on what you bought
Riot's Classic content and refund notice sets out different repayments for portraits and chromas. Portraits bought directly from the store will have their RP cost returned by November 30, 2026. Portraits earned through the paid Act I Classic Pass will instead receive 200 RP each by that date.
Players who bought that pass directly with cash can contact Player Support within 30 days of the October 14 notice to request a refund to their original payment method instead. The notice also offers an original-payment refund option for Classic Collector's Box buyers, with the same contact window. Buyers should check the support page for the terms covering their purchase.
Riot will also refund Classic chromas bought on their own in RP, alongside the specified Classic Annie and Classic Alistar chromas included in welcome bundles. This is not a blanket cash refund for every Classic purchase.
The Act II Classic Pass will have a single free track. Its published schedule currently ends progression on January 4, 2027 at 11:59pm PT and deactivates the pass on January 5 at 11:59pm PT. Riot says those times can change and advises checking the in-game schedule. From patch 26.21, the Classic store will sell only champions, runes and rune pages.

Some regions lose full-time queues first
Starting with patch 26.21 on October 21, Japan and MENA will have custom matches only. Korea, Latin America North and South, Taiwan, Vietnam, Turkey, Southeast Asia, Oceania and Russia will move to restricted matchmaking hours: 4pm to midnight on weekdays and 10am to 1am on weekends, all in server time.
Riot attributes those restrictions to long waits and large skill-rating gaps as players leave Classic queues. Custom games will remain available at all times in every region during the rest of the run.
Champion releases will continue every patch through 26.23. Mordekaiser, Yorick, Hecarim and Lucian are due in 26.21, while the remaining additions include Council poll favourites Volibear, Urgot and Udyr.
